First Use, Drying & Storage Guide
Protecting authentic handcrafted Indian metalware begins from the moment of unboxing.

🛡️ Safe Storage Habits
1. Unboxing & First-Time Cleaning Routine
When your Copper Master package arrives, inspect all pieces carefully. Before using your new copper, brass, or Kansa utensils for food or water storage, perform a gentle initial rinse:
- Lukewarm Water Wash: Wash the vessel inside and outside with lukewarm water and a drop of gentle liquid dish soap using a soft cotton cloth.
- Rinse Away Workshop Dust: Handcrafted metalware undergoes artisanal polishing before packing; a warm rinse clears all residual natural polishing powders.
- Immediate Bone-Dry Wipe: Immediately dry the vessel inside and outside with a soft microfiber towel.
2. Essential Moisture Management & Drying
Water left standing on unlined metal surfaces creates mineral marks and accelerates oxidation. Follow these golden drying habits:
- Never Air-Dry Upside Down While Wet: Trapped moisture inside narrow necks or under rims causes spot tarnish. Wipe dry first, then allow open air circulation.
- Leave Lids Unthreaded: When storing bottles or water matkas after washing, leave the caps slightly open to ensure internal air exchange.
3. Long-Term Storage & Seasonal Protection
If you are setting aside heirloom dinner sets or festive pooja articles between seasons:
- Use Soft Cloth Wraps: Wrap individual pieces in pure cotton cloths or acid-free tissue paper before stacking.
- Avoid Plastic Bags: Storing metalware inside sealed plastic bags traps humidity and causes patchy discoloration. Store in breathable cabinets.
- Separate Stacked Plates: Place cotton napkins between stacked brass or Kansa thalis to avoid surface rub marks.
